Indeed, service in the rotary transcends boundaries.

The Club first welcomed PE David Polley of RC Central Mactan on August 7, 2008 at the regular club meeting. At the time, it was evident that this Rotarian from across the seas would become a “regular” visiting Rotarian. In that first meeting, PE David proposed a joint project to provide crossing safety kits to school zones, with his club providing some kits. On his second visit last September 11, PE David brought six safety kits consisting of a Vest, Stop Sign, and a Whistle. The kits were to be given to six participating elementary schools.

Not only was a joint project put in place, but a Sistership Agreement was also forged between the two clubs. This took place on October 9, 2008, when President Christopher Bennetts of RC Central Mactan participated in the Street Crossing Safety Lecture and Kit distribution project Chaired by Rtn. Romel Carbonell. The participating schools signed a Deed of Undertaking for the proper use and maintenance of the kits. President Chris also gave a Classification talk at the club’s regular meeting. The evening was capped with the signing of the Sistership Agreement

Undoubtedly, advancement in technology and transport has made this a smaller world, bringing Rotarians closer and paving the way for friendships and fellowship, and more opportunities for service.
